A policeman, Sunday Uloko, has asked an Agege Customary Court, Lagos, to dissolve his union with Nnee Uloko.

Uloko claims that Nnee doesn’t want him to see his parents and relatives.

He alleges that both of them fight regularly; she is troublesome and causes him public embarrassment.

He says there is no more love in their union that has produced a four-year-old child and for these reasons, the union should be dissolved.

Uloko told the court that he was frequently accused of being unfaithful even though he had never been caught with any woman.

He said that because of his spouse, he could not buy cell-phone recharge cards from any female vendor on his street without being accused of dating the person.

He said on several occasions he had complained to his sister.

Uloko told the court that his sister came to his house one day to see if his claims were true. He said his sister told him he should test his partner.

The test was that he would pack his clothes and see her reaction.

When Nnee came in and saw his sister packing Uloko’s clothes, she ran to Area ‘G’ Police Headquarters and came back with seven policemen.

The sister immediately called Uloko, who told the policemen that he would report to their station after work; that was when they allowed his sister to go.

He said that whenever he was going home it was as if he was going into fire.

Uloko told the court that Nnee is known in Area ‘G’ and has been warned not to come there again or risk being arrested.

Nnee also told the court to dissolve their union because Uloko’s sister had threatened to beat her if she came back to her brother’s house.

She said the genesis of their problem was when Uloko brought a woman to their apartment. She said when she asked him about the woman, he said she was his sister even though she knows all his sisters.

Nnee told the court that Sunday went to buy noodles and malt for the stranger and when she asked him why the special treatment, the woman got angry, took her bag and left.

She said that recently, he and his brother beat her up and she lost her five-month old pregnancy; an allegation Uloko denied.

She said that Uloko would not give her money and that he refused to pay her medical bills. She said that because she could not complete the payment she had faced constant embarrassment.

Nnee told the court that Uloko kicked her out of their apartment as soon as she got the court summons. She said she had to beg at Ogba bus stop before she could get money to go to her brother’s place.

The court asked Uloko to provide N5,000 for the up-keep of their child. He was also asked to bring his sisters to court to say their side of the story.

Uloko was asked to refund Nnee with the money for the hospital bill as she claimed to have completed the payment. She was, however, asked to provide the receipt for the payment.

The case was adjourned till Sept. 25, 2012.
