Olufemi Ogunkorode’s murder: Police arrest two

POLICE authorities in Ondo State have arrested two persons in connection with the gruesome murder of Olufemi Ogunkorode by his childhood friends in Erusu Akoko area of the state.


The deceased was said to have been lured to the town under the pretext that his childhood friend was burying her late mother.

His childhood friends include Chief Babatunde Olumofe, Mr. Sunday Akeju and one other popularly called Eso.Speaking with Vanguard in Akure yesterday the Image Maker of the Police Command Adeniran Aremu said that the deceased and his friends own their personal houses near each other in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.

Aremu said that a murder charge would be preferred against the suspects after the ongoing investigation by the police.

He assured that the Police Command would get to the root of the gruesome killing of the deceased for rituals by his friends.

Aremu said that the dragnet of police detectives has been spread to apprehend all those involved in the killing of the deceased.

It will be recalled that no sooner than they all arrived Erusu Akoko than the suspects allegedly handed over the victim to the traditionalists who killed the late Ogunkorode.

His corpse was reportedly dumped along a major highway and they told people that he was killed by armed robbers and reported the case to the police at Erusu Akoko.

However, when the case was transferred to the Oke Agbe police station, the DPO was told that the deceased merely slumped and died.

Reports had it that the death of the deceased have sparked off a cold war between the people of Erusu-Akoko and Ilu Omoba Ekiti .

Notable leaders from Erusu including some traditional chiefs who visited the family of the deceased in Ilu Omoba last weekend Sunday in connection with the case were reportedly chased away by irate youths in the town.
