STAMPEDE: 10 Dead Including A Pregnant Woman In Senator Bukola Saraki’s House While Scrambling For Sallah Gift


Ten supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including a pregnant woman and elderly persons, reportedly died in a stampede at the residence of the late Dr Olusola Saraki, on Wednesday.
 The deceased were said to have met their death while scrambling for food items and other commodities during the Sallah programme organised by the state chapter of the party for party faithful.
The Nigerian Tribune gathered that the rowdy situation made some people, particularly the aged, to faint and fall down, leading to their death, while the injured were taken to the Civil Service Clinic located near the Saraki
residence.
It was also gathered that a similar incident occurred in 2010 and 2011.
Nigerian Tribune further learnt that the annual traditional homage by the Emir of Ilorin, who is also the Chairman, Kwara State Traditional Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State was cancelled as a result of the incident.  
Meanwhile, Senator Bukola Saraki, has expressed sadness over deaths.
A statement signed by him  reads: I’m deeply saddened to receive the news about the loss of some of our party members who were stampeded after the Sallah festivities at the charity house.”
