The Nigerian Police College at Kaduna recently found a robbery suspect among it newly admitted recruits undergoing training.
Sanusi Rufai, the commandant of the college said a group of armed robbers who were recently apprehended named him as one of their members and he was immediately withdrawn and arrested.
He said the named suspect has been transferred to the appropriate police unit for further investigation into the case.
The college commandant reportedly said the arrested suspect was one of the 25 recruits disqualified from the training due to various offenses ranging from falsification of certificates to possession of criminal records.
He said, “Some of the recruits have sight or hearing challenges, while a few others did not attend the schools the certificates of which they presented.”
Rufai assured that the college will continue to do its best in rooting out unfit persons so as to ensure that only individuals with “good knowledge and character” are allowed to become officers.
More than 4,000 recruit constables are currently undergoing a 15-month basic training at the college.
