Adopted Baby Crawls Into Pool….Drowns

This is one of the most tragic and heart wrenching stories this year. A 34-month-old boy was found in a pool in the backyard of a home in the 17000 block of Sandy Knoll Drive in Olney just before noon yesterday, in Montgomery County.

A woman named Chinasa, from Anambra State, came to Nigeria to adopt a set of twins after trying in vain to conceive. In spite of all the red tape involved, she successfully took the children back to the U.S with her, after leaving them in the care a relative for some time. She also employed the services of a woman from Nigeria to help with taking care of the toddlers, due to her busy work schedule and the high cost of nannies and babysitters in the United States.

While Mrs Chinasa was at work on this fateful day, one of the boys crawled out to the backyard of the house and fell into the pool. According to the housekeeper, when she didn’t hear the baby’s voice after a while, she started searching frantically for the boy. She discovered him inside the pool, lying immobile.

She raised an alarm and a neighbour rushed and carried the baby out, he was performing CPR on the child when the first responders came on the scene. The boy was taken to an area hospital for treatment, but officials say he died just before 2 p.m.

So sad, but thank God at least, for the other child.
