Mother of popular singer-producer, Cobhams Asuquo has been declared winner of the just concluded celebrity edition of the Supermom reality TV show.
The announcement was made following her emergence as the contestant with the highest number of votes, leading mothers of fuji musician, Obesere and EME’s Skales. Gladys Asuquo will be treated to an all expense paid trip to Dubai as well as a cash price of N 2million naira to be donated to any charity home of her choice. The runners up will also join on the cruise to Dubai and receive N 1million and N500, 000 respectively to be donated to charity of their choices. Mothers of Julius Agwu and Tony Tetuila who made the top five will also be rewarded.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the show, producer, Sola Fajobi disclosed that the show was born to celebrate mothers who have been supporters of their children and helped them achieve greatness, ‘Our Superstars are human beings; they eat, they drink and do the things that we do. They did not fall from the sky. They were raised, groomed, trained and nurtured by mothers. They were once kids and now they are celebrated all over the country because of their talent and achievements. We are confident of the fact that Nigerians really would love to see and share from the experiences of their idols and their mothers’, he said.
The show which lasted for 13 weeks, started on Saturday, May 26, 2012 with mothers of 20 Nigerian celebrities Foluke Daramola, Flavour Nabania, Olu Maintain, Jaywon, Tony Tetuila, Ara. Yaw, Femi Adebayo, Binta Ayo Mogaji, Kunle Afolayan, Seyi Law and Julius Agwu and others were also featured.
The show is produced by Digital Interactive Media and is in its third edition.
