Lagos Man Arraigned For Stabbing Wife’s Alleged Lover In The Face With A Broken Bottle

A 22 year old man, Afeez Oyewole has been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting at Tinubu, for stabbing one Taiwo Adeyemi whom he claimed was having affairs with his wife.


Police prosecutor, Superintendent of Police, Augustine Orji, informed the court that the defendant (Oyewole) alleged that Adeyemi (complainant) had been pestering his wife for an affair.

However, when the defendant heard of it, he confronted the complainant which resulted in a fight. In the process, the victim was stabbed in the face with a broken bottle by the defendant leading to loss of one eye.

The defendant was said to have committed the offence on September 9, 2012 at No.92 Old Aroloya Street on Lagos Island.

The prosecutor argued that the offence is punishable under section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.

When the charge was read to him, the defendant pleaded not guilty and was granted bail by Magistrate Martins Owumi in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties. The case has been adjourned till September 26, 2012.
