EPL Watch: Chelsea, City drop points, Arsenal run riot at the Emirates

The 60,000 plus crowd that squeezed into the Emirates, on this bright Saturday afternoon, were treated to the brand of soccer that’s termed ‘champagne football’. The Gunners were in rampant mood, as they hit four in the half first. Own goals from Jos Hooiveld and Nathaniel Clyne, were sandwiched between smashing strikes from Gervinho and Podolski. Danny Fox hit a consolation in the final moments of the half, after Sczcensy’s blunder. But Gervinho and Walcott scored in the second half to make it 6-1.

Manchester City and Chelsea both dropped points at Stoke City and Queens Park Rangers respectively. City went behind to a hotly contested Peter Crouch goal, before new signing, Javi Garcia equalised. Norwich and West Ham, also played out a goalless draw at Carrow Road.

Paul Scholes found the back of the net in his 700th game for Manchester United, after they struggled to break down Wigan Athletic in the first half. Chicharito made amends for his missed penalty with the second, before new boys, Buttner and Powell made it 4-0.

Aston Villa handed Swansea their first defeat of the season with a 2-0 at Villa Park, while Berbatov scored twice as Fulham beat 10-man West Brom 3-0.
