2 docked for impersonation, manslaughter
IKEJA—A 35-year-old ex-soldier, Mohammed Awa, was, yesterday, arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court for impersonation as NDLEA official.
Also, a 45-year- old man, Olalekan Salami, was arraigned before another magistrate’s court, for manslaughter.
Awa, was on a three- count charge of impersonation, forgery and unlawful possession,to which he pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Barth Nwakaoye, told the court that the accused unlawfully forged and had in his possession an NDLEA identity card, which he had been using to parade himself as an official of the organisation.
Nwaokoye said the accused committed the offence on August 25 at Abattoir area of Agege.
The trial magistrate, A.O Isaac, ordered that he be remanded in prison and adjourned further hearing to August 31, for facts and sentence.
In the case involving Salami, a commercial bus driver, police prosecutor, Linus Mamah, told the court that had on the 14 of August 2012, at about 1pm, along Oshodi Abeokuta expressway by union road junction Dopemu, being the driver in charge of a Mazda commercial bus with registration number YA 451 MUS, driven recklessly and thereby causing the death of one Gloria Asuquo aged 30 year old.
Mamah, claimed that the defendant, had driven the vehicle recklessly, on the public high way without having any regard, for other road users.
Magistrate Mr E, Ogunkami, remanded him to prison custody and the matter was adjourned to 25 of September 2012, for further trial and sentence.
