Top Nigerian Stars Storm London For Nottinghill Carnival


The crème of Nigerian entertainment industry are already in London, United Kingdom or on their way for this year’s edition of the Nottinghill Carnival holding this weekend.


Abisoye Fagade, executive producer, ‘Naija Corner’, said some of the biggest names in Nigerian music industry will come together on Bank Holiday, Monday 27 August, to deliver 100 percent entertainment to fans at the authentic Nigerian corner.

Now in its fourth year, ‘Naija Corner’ is the official Nigerian corner at the Nottinghill Carnival, and is holding this year at the Golbourne Road, W10 (intersection of Golbourne Gardens and Hazlewood Crescent-Nearest landmark: Trelick Tower) London.

Some of the top names that have moved to the British capital in readiness for the greatest annual street party in the city include bestselling debutant Davido, fan-favourite Mr. SOLEK, D’banj Records’ KaySwitch, as well as Africa’s number one DJ, Jimmy JATT. Other star performers include comedians Tee A, Gbenga Adeyinka 1st and Princess.

“As we gather to do Nigeria proud again at the Nottinghill Carnival, we encourage Nigerians and lovers of Nigeria to come out in bright Naija fashion on Monday 27 August for this year’s carnival,” Fagade told P.M.NEWS Entertainment.

He added: “It’s the Olympics year and a special one at the Nottinghill Carnival. Nigerians will proudly join the rest of the world in the spirit of friendship and joy, as we fly the green-white-green high and show the world our culture and values, using our rich music, comedy, fashion and arts, flaunt all the elements that make us a great people, and do our country, Nigeria, proud. It’s a beautiful thing, as you’ll see on Monday.”

P.M.NEWS Entertainment learnt that millions of Nigerians in the United Kingdom are upbeat and busy on the social media as they voice their expectations towards an undiluted fun and a feel of their native land as top music and comedy stars will thrill them at the ‘Naija Corner’ during the Bank Holiday.

This year’s edition of ‘Naija Corner’ promises to be the biggest yet, with turn out expected to reach an all time high.

“But the biggest offer is an opportunity for all of us to come out in our bright colours and do our nation proud, a rare opportunity for us to converge and celebrate our culture, our lore, our country, ourselves, while mingling with thousands of revellers at the world’s biggest free street party,” said Adekunle Ayeni, CEO, BlackHouse Media Group.

Meanwhile, many revellers will move to the HMV Apollo also in London later as Davido will join other acts to perform alongside the Kokomaster D’banj at his much hyped concert tagged ‘D’banj Live’. The concert will also feature acts such as Big Sean, May7ven, Vibesquad and most likely Kanye West and his G.O.O.D Music label mates.

Prior to Monday gigs, popular Nigerian stand-up comedian, Julius ‘D Genius’ Agwu, is expected to thrill his fans at the London Leg of his three-city ‘Crack Ya Ribs’ tour on Sunday 26 August at the Light House Hall, London. Artistes and comedians that will perform at the London show include M.I, D’Prince, Seyi Law, DJ Abass, Funny Bone, Senator, MC Shakara and Funny Face from Ghana. Top Ghanaian acts like VIP, Guru and Khaki will also be performing at the event.
