In an exercise to screen teachers involved in fraudulent documents to
get into service, Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole yesterday nabbed a
teacher Mrs. Augusta Odemwigwe who could not read properly. She was
asked to read an affidavit she swore to declare her age but couldn't.
The governor collected it and read it out to her and asked her to repeat
a sentence there and she still couldn't. Then he asked, ''if you
cannot read this, i wonder if you will be able to write it on the
board!''. Mrs Odemwigwe has been teaching for 20years. Watch the video

Man Who Duped 106 Tenants Docked
The
police at State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba,
Lagos, southwest Nigeria, have charged a landlord, Alhaji Ishola
Salawudeen, who allegedly duped over 106 prospective tenants in Alapere,
to court with fraud.
While in court Wednesday, he revealed for the first time that it will be difficult for the victims to get their money back because his accomplices who were involved in the scam got their share and ran away.
Salawudeen, who is the landlord of the building at 59, Oriola Street, Alapere, Ketu, in Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, LCDA, allegedly duped the tenants under false pretence of renting the 13 mini-flat apartments to the tune of about N50 million.
While in court Wednesday, he revealed for the first time that it will be difficult for the victims to get their money back because his accomplices who were involved in the scam got their share and ran away.

A Nigerian has been arrested in Lagos over the attempted fraudulent sale of a house in Western Australia.
Ntuen Promise Ekenmini was arrested yesterday when he visited an international courier office and tried to collect settlement documents with a forged driver’s licence in the name of the real South African home owner.
Ekenmini is expected to be charged with forgery and identity theft.
The arrest follows an eight-month investigation by WA Police, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and authorities in South Africa and Nigeria.
Police allege the attempted fraud began when Ekenmini contacted the property manager of a WA real estate agency in December 2012 claiming to own a home in Falcon, south of Perth, which was being managed by the agency.

The former president condemned younger generation of leaders.
While reviewing Nigeria’s history since independence, former President Olusegun Obasanjo said the country may have been cursed with poor and irresponsible leaders.
Mr. Obasanjo, who gave the keynote address at the 4th Annual Ibadan Sustainable Development Summit organised by Centre for Sustainable Development, University of Ibadan, in collaboration with African Sustainable Development Network, on Tuesday, said if Nigerians were yet to commend a leader after 53 years of independence, “Then we are jinxed and cursed; we should all go to hell.”

Gov. Fashola locks up Orji Uzor Kalu's lagos home
Embattled and bereaved governor of Lagos, Babatunde fashola has sealed a house belonging to SLOK boss and former governor of Abia state, Orji uzor Kalu.
This is coming after Kalu attacked the governor over his recent deportation of 72 igbo residents to Onitsha Anambra state. Kalu had, after the deportation, told Fashola to apologise to the Igbo for the deportation and threatened to drag him to court if he failed to do so. Some days ago, officials of Lagos State swooped on Kalu's Park View,Ikoyi property and placed a seal on it. No reason was given for the action.
A former aide to the governor who pleaded anonymity claimed that the governor took the action in order to deal with Kalu over his comments against the igbo deportation.
