PHOTO: “No-Trouser” Corps Member (Miss Ekundayo Tolulope Damilola) Wasn’t Thrown Out At Night – NYSC Clarifies

*Ekundayo Tolulope Damilola* The National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, has cleared the air on the expulsion of a female corps member, Miss Ekundayo Tolulope Damilola, for refusing to wear the scheme’s trousers at the Orientation Camp. The Ogun State NYSC Director, Mrs. Theresa Anosike, explained that Ekundayo was decamped in line with the bye-laws of the scheme on dress code as well as to respect her choice on the mandatory service year for all Nigerian graduates of higher institutions. Anosike, who spoke with journalists at the weekend, said Ekudayo’s actions contravened the undertaking which she had earlier signed as well as the rules and by-laws of the scheme

According to media report, Ekundayo, a graduate of the Lagos state University with NYSC call-up number  NYSC/ LSU/ 2012/ 023517  and state code number OG/ 134/ 1344 was sent out of the orientation camp in shagamu by the authorities about 11pm

But Anosike explained that the NYSC refrained from coercing the female corps member from acting against her faith hence, she opted to leave the camp at the time she left despite all the entreaties.

The director, who quoted section 3, subsection (h) of the scheme by-laws 2012, said that: "Any member who refuses, fails or neglects to comply with this rules shall be tried by the camp court and if found guilty, will be liable to be decamped and sent out of the orientation camp."

She, however, emphasized that it was mischievous of anyone or group to say that NYSC threw the lady out of camp at night, stressing that the corps member choose to the leave the camp at that night with the chairman of the Penticostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Remo district, Apostle Adenuga B, Otaru from Athioc church, Shagamu.
