QUARRELS ... Yaya Toure
YAYA TOURE admits there are regular rows among all the big egos in the Manchester City dressing room.
But the midfielder believes it can benefit the side as they head into tonight’s do-or-die Champions League clash with Ajax.
He said: “Of course we have rows, even quite often. In great teams there are characters and different egos.
“We don’t accept defeat, so when we lose there are quarrels.”
And boss Roberto Mancini has told his players to carry on rowing if it helps them win matches.
The Italian chief said: “I don’t have any problem with this. As a manager I have had a lot of players like this and I was the same as a player.
“But this is normal in a top squad when you have 14-15 men at this level.”
Midfielder Gareth Barry also admitted the City players do not always see eye-to-eye.
But he believes they have a team spirit.
He said: “If you go in the dressing room, we are not high-fiving every five minutes or having long conversations.
“The big names have come in and whenever there are a few negative results, these things are thrown at the players — that there are egos and people can’t get on.
“But inside the dressing room we are close. We will silence the critics with our performances and that is our target.
“The team spirit is shown by being professional and doing a job on the pitch together.
“That’s what we feel we have got. We try to do that — perform and run for each other, the fans and the manager. That is team spirit.”
City have picked up just one point from their first three Champions League group matches.
But Barry called on City to summon up the spirit they showed on the final day of last season when they dramatically came from behind to beat QPR and clinch the title.
He said: “We have proved we can do it.
“It’s the same set of players and that belief is still there.”
It is successes like that that have prompted Toure, 29, to add: “I want to finish my career at City.
“I can make the history of City. I’m sure that when I am older, people will continue to talk about me here.”
