“Stay Away, Please!”: Visitors Barred From Seeing Patience Jonathan In German Hospital

. Speaking anonymously, a staff of the hospital revealed that several visiting Nigerian officials have been prevented from seeing Mrs Jonathan in order to facilitate her recovery. The hospital management confirmed that Patience Jonathan had been treated unsuccessfully for food poisoning in Nigeria before she was checked into Horst Schmidt Klinik last week. Apparently, her condition was worsening and becoming a cause of concern to President Jonathan. Considering the general disbelief that has trailed the ‘food poisoning’ explanation for Patience Jonathan’s admission to a foreign hospital, a source has said that the Presidency might be compelled to release the actual state of her health to set the records straight. “We have made it clear to those who want to hide everything that Dame Jonathan has not committed any offence by being sick since she is a human being. That is why there may be a change of attitude and Dame’s whereabouts and type of sickness made clear by her handlers,” the source said. Rumour has it that a cabal in the Presidency is being blamed for the frenzy about Dame Jonathan’s condition, having misdirected her handlers to ignore well-informed advice not to hide the true nature of her illness. Another source close to the Jonathan family confirmed that Mrs. Jonathan had a medical condition which necessitated her trip abroad, adding that she had since been operated upon. Contrary to speculations that she traveled abroad to have an abdominoplasty (commonly referred to as a ‘tummy tuck’) done secretly, the source hinted that Mrs Jonathan did not undergo any such surgery. The source hinted that she was not a cosmetic-conscious person and could not have contemplated such a procedure, although he did not disclose the nature of ailment for which she was allegedly operated upon. “Obviously, there is nothing to be worried about her condition. (sic) She has gone through the operation and she is fine,” said the source, who deigned to give up any information regarding when Dame Jonathan would return to the country.
