Lagos Is Bizarre: Woman Alleges That Co-Tenant Is A Witch, Assaults Her

According to a report, one Mrs. Tosin Okorie was recently arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ejigbo, Lagos for allegedly assaulting her co-tenant, Olubunmi Bodunde ( a 50-year-old policewoman),
and calling her a witch. In the strange account given to the court by Mrs. Okorie, she alleged that when Bodunde’s only child died sometime ago, the policewoman claimed that the other co-tenants were inordinately jubilant. According to the accused, Bodunde’s husband, an alleged witch doctor, subsequently placed a curse on his co-tenants in anger.

Afterwards, Okorie claimed, life became unbearably hard for the other tenants as they could no longer afford to pay rent or feed properly, and none of them was able to secure alternative accommodation. She maintained that the inexplicable deaths of five children in the house since Bodunde’s child died is ample proof that the curse is real.

Responding to Mrs. Okorie’s accusations before the court, Bodunde denied being a witch. The policewoman also said that, regardless of the fact that her co-tenants were actually glad when her own child died, she did not kill their children in revenge.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs. M. B. Folami verbally chastised the two neighbours for intolerance and ordered them to do community service around the court premises. Talk about strange.
