Jay-Z and Beyonce hosted a private fundraiser for President Obama on Sept. 18 in New York, and the commander in chief gave the ‘Single Ladies’ singer a special shout-out!
One is an outspoken hip-hop mogul and one is the leader of the free world, but Jay-Z and President Barack Obama have a lot more in common than you would think. The president, who is vying for a second term in the upcoming election, attended a private fundraiser in midtown Manhattan hosted by Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce — at $40,000 a head! — and paid an endearing compliment to the superstar couple.
“To J and B, thank you so much for your friendship,” the president said.
“Beyoncé could not be a better role model for my girls because she carries herself with such class and poise and has so much talent.”
He also made an endearing comparison between himself and Jay-Z, pointing out, ”we both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are,” Obama said in reference to his daughters Sasha and Malia, and Jay-Z’s baby Blue Ivy Carter. He also made a jab at Michelle Obama‘s higher approval rating.
“So, you know, we’ve got a little bond there,” he joked. “It’s hard, but it’s OK.”
