Activists burn the American flag during protests against an anti-Islam film in front of the National Mosque baitul Mokarram in Dhaka
Nigerian troops fired live rounds on Friday [Sep 14] to disperse Muslims protesting in the volatile central city of Jos against an American film about the Prophet Mohammad that has triggered unrest in several countries across the Islamic world.
Scores of Muslim demonstrators distributed photographs printed out from the trailer of the film, which Muslims say insults the Prophet, after Friday prayers in Jos.
A Reuters correspondent then saw them march down the main Bauchi Road shouting "God is Great!". The military deployed to block them, firing live rounds into the air and ordering them to disperse.
