Two women have reported to the Area E Police Command, FESTAC, Lagos claiming that they were also drugged and raped by the suspects arrested over the death of Cynthia, the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Frank Osokogu (retd.).
It was learnt that the two identified the suspects – Nwabuzo Okumo and Odera Ezekiel – and wrote statements at the command.
The suspects allegedly drugged and beat up Cynthia before she died on July 22, 2012. One of the suspects also confessed that he had drugged, raped and robbed four girls before Cynthia.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, confirmed to PUNCH correspondent on the telephone that the claims of the girls were being investigated.
“Following the parade on Wednesday, two girls came on Thursday [Aug 23] and complained that they had fallen victim to the suspects in the past. We are investigating it”, she said.
She, however, declined to give the name of the two ladies for “security purpose”.
The suspects had told PUNCH that they usually used hotels within the FESTAC area to commit their crimes.
Okumo said, “I chose hotels in FESTAC because there are many hotels in the area”. “I don’t kill the girls, I only drug them, sleep with them and steal their belongings”.
It was learnt that due to their confession, the police had quizzed some employees of some of the hotels in the area for not reporting such crimes in the past.
The suspects would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba soon.
