Newborn Kidnapped from Pittsburgh Hospital, Suspect Questioned

Police took a woman in Wilkinsburg away for questioning on Aug. 23, 2012 after she is suspected of abducting a baby.

Police are questioning a woman allegedly involved in the abduction of a 3-day old baby from the maternity ward of Pittsburgh hospital, according to law enforcement officials.

The whereabouts of the boy remain unknown.

The infant's grandmother confirmed the child's name is Bryce Coleman.

An investigation is underway at Magee-Womens Hospital after a newborn baby was abducted this afternoon, just as the child's family was preparing to take the infant home.

The hospital issued a statement saying that it "can confirm that there was an infant abduction this afternoon at Magee-Womens Hospital as the infant's family was preparing to leave following discharge. The baby was taken by a woman who is not believed to be a UPMC employee."

An alert to local police departments was issued following the abduction, but no Amber Alert was issued according to a Pennsylvania State Police spokesperson.

Neither the suspect nor the infant has been identified.

ABC News affiliate WTAE reported that the suspect was wearing hospital scrubs

The station reported that woman matching the description of the suspect earlier today entered a uniform store near the hospital and purchased UPMC scrubs. She told the clerk she was receiving training at the hospital today, according to reports.
