MO FARAH | OLYMPIC STAR BECOMES A FATHER | TO TWIN GIRLS

OLYMPIC champ Mo Farah has followed his historic double gold by becoming a father – to twin girls. The long distance running star’s wife Tania gave birth last night [Aug 24].

Farah, 29, dedicated his 5,000m and 10,000m gold medals to the unborn pair after he topped the 2012 podium.

Speaking on Sky News ahead of the Aviva Birmingham Grand Prix tomorrow, a beaming Farah said: “My wife gave birth to two little beautiful girls. It is very exciting”.

Asked whether he would be immediately going to her bedside, the dedicated runner said: “No, no, no, I've got a race tomorrow, haven't I”. Farah then later tweeted: “Great news about the birth of my little baby girls! Twins...! Thanks to my wife..!! Shabba!!”

Tania was pictured heavily pregnant in the stadium cheering her husband on alongside daughter Rihanna. She gave birth just under a fortnight after her husband's double triumph.

At a press conference, Farah added: “My wife has been holding on so long and it's great that she held on this long and didn't give birth on the track (at the Olympics)”.

Asked to compare fatherhood to wining Olympic gold, he said: 'It's completely different. It's out of your control”. “It was weird, but as a father I'm very proud. To have three kids in the family is going to be exciting”.
“If my wife has another two more twins boys, I'll be a happy man”.

“It runs in the family, so maybe that's why we're having twins”.

Farah plans to get their names inscribed onto the medals once the couple have decided what to call their new children.

He will run over two miles in Birmingham tomorrow in a bid to beat Steve Ovett's British outdoor record of 8:13.51.
