Ulysses Chapman stands accused of dousing Anita Michelle Amadi in gasoline, lighting her on fire and locking her in his car after an argument.

A Florida man with over 20 arrests already in his criminal career may finally have committed the act that finds him a permanent home behind bars.

Ulysses Chapman, 67, of Tampa, has been accused of dousing Anita Michelle Amadi, 40, with gasoline, lighting her on fire and locking her in his car following an argument between the two.

Chapman told police he warned the woman he would set her on fire, if she didn't "shut up," reported Bay News 9.

Ahmadi was reportedly battling a crack addiction. Her mentor had harsh words for her attacker.

"That sounds to me like he treated her like a piece of trash," Sharlene Powell told the station. "That's what you do to trash, you douse gas and strike a lighter to it."

Chapman's car also received damage in the blaze, reported the Tampa Bay Times.

Champman’s extensive rap sheet goes back to 1995. It features multiple aliases, jail stints and paroles, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office website.

Chapman has been charged with cocaine possession 10 times, as well as a variety of other offenses, including seven charges for possession of pot. He’s also piled up multiple burglary, grand theft, assault, battery and domestic violence charges.

His latest run-in with authorities has left him charged with aggravated battery, great bodily harm, second-degree arson and cocaine possession. His bond has been revoked and he is in custody awaiting trial.

Ahmadi was left with severe burns on her leg and arm. She remains at Tampa General Hospital, the station reported.

A Tampa Police spokesperson could not be reached for comment.
