Florida cop arrested after video shows him slamming hit-and-run driver into her car: police

‘Way beyond excessive force,’ says Abbi Bonds, 29, who is seen in cop’s dash cam being hurled against the side of her vehicle. She was allegedly drunk at the time of her arrest.

A Florida cop was fired and arrested after a routine review of dash cam video revealed that he brutally slammed a woman into her car.

Pensacola Police Officer Christopher Geraci pulled over 29-year-old Abbi Bonds Aug. 2 while responding to a hit-and-run crash, ABC News reported.

Her disabled car had paint on it matching the two vehicles she allegedly hit, and Geraci said she had alcohol on her breath as she claimed that someone had stolen her car and she ran after it.

In the video, Geraci is seen grabbing Bonds’ arm roughly and throwing her into the side of her car, causing her to drop to her knees and hit her chin.

"I'm not fighting you. Why are you hitting me?” she says in the clip.

Bonds suffered a swollen knee, a hurt jaw and a possible concussion. Speaking to ABC News, she said, "He just totally lost control as a police officer and beat the crap out of me using way beyond excessive force."

‘Why are you hitting me?’ Abbi Bonds can be heard asking Pensacola Police Officer Christopher Geraci in the video.

Bonds underwent a field sobriety test and performed poorly, according to Geraci’s incident report. She was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and other offenses.

Geraci, a Pensacola cop since 2004, filled out a use of force report after the arrest. As part of standard protocol, his supervisor reviewed the video.

He was fired last Friday and charged with criminal battery, according to ABC. He was booked into jail but released later on his own recognizance.

"We have certain expectations of our police officers,” Pensacola Police Chief Chip Simmons said. “When I looked at the video, I was disappointed because I felt like that didn't stand up to those expectations."
