Appearing in few flicks and several ads including BAT (British America Tobacco) For West Africa Billboard, Fidelity Bank Billboard, Bank P.H.B billboard, Golden Penny Pasta Billboard, U.H.F Long life Milk Billboard, Haemeron Blood tonic Billboard, Airport Branding, Finbank TVC, and Press, amongst others, Susan intensified her efforts on becoming a household name in the acting world. With close to 60 movies and five recognition awards in her kitty, this actress, who is of the opinion that a wedding can’t be forced, told her story to Movie Moments in a brief chat few days back.
Who really is Susan Peters?
Susan is a multiple award winning actress with over 60 credits in Nollywood movies. She is also a star on Nigerian TV, a successful model, interior designer, a humanitarian and also owns a beauty place. Susan is a remarkable and incredible talent in the showbiz industry! Her dedication to art is unmistakable. She is a charming and caring person and down to earth.
What is Susan Peters up to in recent time?
Been focusing on my humanitarian works and was announced as official Peace Ambassador for the United Nations. I travelled overseas for holidays and some award shows and just returned. Just completed two new houses in Benue State and will start working on another new project soon.
Christmas was a bit quiet this year as I had a very dear friend ill, and my adopted baby in London was ill too. So I had a quiet reflection, doing prayers and reaching out to family.
What is your take on Nollywood in the last 21 years?
Nollywood has improved drastically, we have better movies, story lines, directing et al. Name it, production houses now aim for greater heights plus marketing overseas. Hope we get a mention soon at the Oscars.
As a celebrated actress, what are the hazards of being in the public glare?
You have to take a lot in, so you won’t be labeled, so sometimes when people step on your toes you can’t react because you might be the headline of a newspaper the next day.
The media was awash with the story that you adopted a child last year, how true was it?
Yes and this is not the first, I love kids. Was brought up that way, me and my mom always take children from the village and she takes care of them so I guess I learnt this from her. I love to help where necessary.
If truly you adopted a child, what is the motive behind your action?
My foundation is behind helping children one at a time, Susan Peters Foundation Benue Pikin has been doing a lot recently and we will continue our humanitarian work where God leads.
What is the most memorable thing that acting has given you?
Fame! When you walk or travel, people see you and scream, hug and laugh. When you visit some places and recently also overseas, doors open faster even before you ask. So yea, I love the fame.
You seem to have it all, what do you still expect to achieve from Nollywood?
A whole lot, I intend going behind the camera soon too. You learn everyday in showbiz, as a good actor you always have to go the extra mile like I always tell people.
You are without doubt a beautiful lady, who is comfortable and successful, doesn’t all this achievement scare men away from you?
No it does not, a man who has eyes for a good, hardworking and humble woman and above all fears God will stick with me.
Wedding bells rings when God says its time, it can’t be forced. More so, when I get married it is for better or worse. So will stick by it, for those ones that don’t work it’s because they have not learned to compromise yet. When they do, all will be well.
Lastly, are you looking at producing a movie anytime soon?
Yes I am, it’s my dream all the while and can’t wait to explode soon. God willing.
