The distraught woman had wanted to take her own life after killing her nephew following a family dispute gone bad, according to reports. Rescuers had been locked in a tense stand-off as the woman balanced on the edge, leaning back and threatening to jump.

A crowd had gathered below as emergency crews in the Guangdong province tried to talk her away from the side.

She was eventually pulled to safety following the suicide attempt last week.
