All in the family: Maine woman gives birth to her grandson after heart condition prevents her daughter from getting pregnant

Linda Sirois gave daughter special gift. She carried her 7-pound, 14-ounce grandson to term.

Linda Sirois carried and delivered her own grandson, Madden Hebert, after her daughter learned that she could not carry a child due to a heart condition.

A 49-year-old woman gave birth to her grandson earlier this month after her daughter learned that she could not carry a child due to a heart condition.

Linda Sirois of Madawaska, Maine offered to carry and deliver her grandkid for her daughter, Angel Hebert, when Hebert learned that it would be too dangerous to become pregnant, the Maine Sunday Telegram reported.

"It was all pretty simple as far as I was concerned," Sirois, who gave birth to 7-pound, 14-ounce Madden Hebert on Aug. 13, told the newspaper.

The new grandmother said she told her daughter for many years that she would carry her child if doctors told her that it would unsafe to get pregnant.

Last summer, doctors confirmed to Hebert, 25, and her husband, Brian Hebert, 29, that a pregnancy would be too risky - prompting the couple to turn to Sirois.

Angel Hebert, 25, and Brian Hebert, 29, smile with their new son, Madden.

"It was pretty disappointing and we were pretty upset about it," Angel said. "But we kind of had an idea that it was a possibility and, all along, my mother was saying, 'I'm here and I can carry for you.' I guess we didn't really take her seriously."

Sirois quickly began contacting local fertility clinics, several of which rejected Sirois's case because of her age.

The Reproductive Science Center in Lexington, Mass., however, eventually agreed to the surrogate procedure, after she passed several tests.

Angel Hebert says her newborn son is ‘eating like a champ’ and ‘doesn't fuss too much.’

On Aug.13, Sirois delivered a healthy boy, who Angel says is now "eating like a champ" and "doesn't fuss too much."

Sirois, who has given birth to four children before Madden, said that this pregnancy may have been the easiest thanks to the absence of morning sickness and complications.

"I just saw it as I was babysitting for a few months," she said. "It was their child all along. [I] was just a room for rent."
